Chrysler has reintroduced the a well-known nameplate for 2020, replacing base Pacifica trim levels with the Voyager. This move will allow them to claim that they have four models in their lineup: 300, Voyager, Pacifica, and Pacifica Hybrid.

Mechanically, the Voyager is identical to a Pacifica but will presumably undercut the current Pacifica’s $28,730 base price. One might expect this to be a replacement for the Dodge Grand Caravan, but that’s not in the cards yet, as all three will continue to be produced. Many potential customers have expressed disinterest in the Pacifica due to the higher feature content and prices, so the Voyager appears to be a solution for those buyers.

There’s a fleet-specific trim level available too, called LXi (also a throwback for those paying attention). It includes leatherette seats, second and third row Stow ‘n Go seats, remote start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and roof racks.

""

The L and LX trims carry on, and both include a 3.5″ screen in the instrument cluster and a 7″ Uconnect infotainment system. Safety technology, including parking sensors and a blind spot monitor, is available as an option on the LX trim level, as are heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. Both the L and the LX come with cloth seats, though the L has a second row bench seat. The LX adds second-row bucket seats, a power driver seat, and other convenience features. Stow ‘n Go is standard for the third row on all Voyagers. It’s only available in the second row on the fleet-oriented LXi trim.

On the exterior, the Voyager is nearly identical to the Pacifica save for a new badge on the rear. One notable exterior difference is that the Voyager includes the base front fascia that was previously available on cheaper Pacifica models so there will be a slight visual difference, but nothing we haven’t seen before.

The Voyager moves Chrysler one step closer to discontinuing the Grand Caravan while introducing another nameplate to the starved Chrysler brand. Look for this model to go on sale soon, though pricing has not been announced yet. Stay tuned for an in-depth look at the packages and pricing once more details are released on the 2020 Chrysler Voyager.
