{"id":2109,"date":"2020-10-15T10:52:33","date_gmt":"2020-10-15T14:52:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.autobison.com\/?p=2109"},"modified":"2020-10-15T10:53:16","modified_gmt":"2020-10-15T14:53:16","slug":"new-hope-for-canadian-auto-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.autobison.com\/2020\/10\/new-hope-for-canadian-auto-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"Good news for Canadian auto workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After reaching a deal with Ford, which includes investments in the company&#8217;s existing plants, the Canadian auto workers\u2019 union\u2014Unifor\u2014has apparently struck a deal with Fiat Chrysler.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2070\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autobison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/pacifica-new.jpg\" alt=\"2021 chrysler pacifica hybrid\" width=\"700\" height=\"326\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autobison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/pacifica-new.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.autobison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/pacifica-new-440x205.jpg 440w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While Fiat Chrysler has stood by its Canadian plants, investing heavily in the Windsor minivan facility and more lightly in the Brampton large-car assembly plant, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autobison.com\/2020\/09\/will-chrysler-stay-in-canada-at-all-they-dont-have-to\/\">there were some questions about the future<\/a>. Two crossovers long expected to show up at Windsor have failed to arrive; minivan sales are falling; and the large cars are rumored to be delayed, with their potential market reputedly contracting year by year. In addition to that, the Cherokee plant is running below capacity and the Compass plant in Mexico is likely underused as well.
