Back in March of 2019, the Ford Taurus officially ended production. The Taurus had a long and successful history in the United States with thousands still on the road today. The SHO was one of the most underrated performance sedans on the market. It was a so-called “sleeper” that could keep up with V8 Dodge Challengers and Chevy Camaros. Unlike the Dodge Charger, Ford in the final years of Taurus production did not have much success selling one of the most popular sedans of all time.

However, we are speculating that there might be plans to bring back a Taurus-like car. The Mach-E (or the Mustang) could be the basis for such a vehicle. This sedan would resemble the current Mustang but come in hybrid or electric form. The wheelbase would likely be extended and the profile would be much sleeker compared to the chunky Taurus.

Sleek and stylish

What we want: Similar to the Mach-E, we simply want a performance sedan that can travel over 250 miles. The Mach-E has a range of 300 miles which should be the range of this particular vehicle. Typical safety and luxury features (such as blind spot monitoring and ventilated seats) should also be a staple in the new sedan. Ford can simply make a Mach-E clone and many would still buy it.

As of right now, there is no Ford performance sedan in the works that we are aware of. It would make sense, however, for Ford to try and sell as many Mustang-based vehicles as possible (especially in electric form). This sedan (we will call it Taurus for now) would be great a way to contest Tesla and future products from other manufacturers.
