2020 Wrangler Rubicon Recon – Jeep.com

Jeep has a seemingly endless supply of names to choose from when they cook up a new special edition model. This time, they chose to use a name that was previously used on the last-generation Wrangler JK: Rubicon Recon.

For the 2020 model year, the Wrangler Rubicon Recon is less about improving off-road capability than it was on the previous-generation Wrangler, as much of the off-road gear the Recon Edition brought to the Wrangler JK has already been included on the newer JL. Instead, the Recon features unique interior and exterior accent pieces and a powertrain that is unavailable in the rest of the Rubicon lineup.

Beginning at $43,380 for two-door models and $46,880 for four-door models, the Recon adds the turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine with eTorque back to the Rubicon lineup. This engine was previously available on the Rubicon, but for the 2020 model year, the Sahara was the only trim level to get an eTorque engine until now. This engine produces 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

On the outside, the Rubicon Recon features rock rails, LED headlights and tail lights, black accents on the grille, Recon badges, a black decal on the fender vent with an American flag, new wheels, a black hood decal, and steel bumpers. Exterior colors include Black, Granite Crystal, Sting Gray, Billet Silver, Ocean Blue, Sarge, Bikini, Firecracker Red, Punk’n, Hellayella, and Bright White.

Inside, Recon models include a Jeep trail bag, red seatbelts, red stitching, and body-colored bezels on the dash.

As far as capability goes, the Recon uses heavy-duty Dana front and rear axles, Jeep’s Rock-Trac two-speed transfer case, electronic locking differentials, a disconnecting sway bar, and 33-inch mud-terrain tires–all pretty much standard fare for a Wrangler Rubicon.

The Wrangler Rubicon Recon edition is now available to order from your local Jeep dealership and the build and price tool on the Jeep website has been updated to reflect the new special edition.
