FCA Airflow Vision Exterior

The Consumer Electronics Show is a yearly event that sets the stage for innovative technology, previewing consumer technology in many fields, including smartphones, computers, kitchen appliances, and even cars. Next week, FCA will display their electric Airflow Vision concept at CES 2020, giving us a peek at their vision of the future of transportation. They will also display hybrid versions of the Jeep Wrangler, Renegade, and Compass.

FCA Airflow Vision Interior

The Airflow Vision concept is painted in Arctic White with a clean, futuristic design. The exterior is said to hint “at the future of premium design,” so there could be some design cues present here that will find their way to future production models.

The focus with this concept is on the user interface for the infotainment system. FCA claims to have designed this system to prioritize safety, comfort, and ease of use. The company also says they’ve used the Pacifica Hybrid’s dimensions and flat floor to create a spacious, minimalistic interior with an emphasis on passenger comfort. Ambient lighting, LED accents, and crystalized textures round out the experience.

Oddly enough, although the original Airflow was a Chrysler product, there is no indication of this vehicle falling under the Chrysler brand, or any brand at all for that matter. FCA is referring to this only exclusively as the “Airflow Vision concept” in their press release.

Jeep 4xe

Jeep 4xe Logo

The three plug-in hybrid vehicles Jeep is showing off at CES 2020 are all badged with their newly designated “4xe” name, indicating their electric powertrain and off-road capability. The Wrangler plug-in hybrid will make its debut here and should use a hybrid system similar to the one found in the Pacifica Hybrid.

Jeep is also bringing the Renegade and Compass plug-in hybrids, previewed last year, to this show, though US availability for those models hasn’t been confirmed. The Renegade and Compass 4xe models will use a 1.3 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder paired with an electric engine that drives the rear wheels with a combined system output of around 240 horsepower. More details should be revealed next week at the show.
