{"id":1084,"date":"2019-12-14T16:54:58","date_gmt":"2019-12-14T21:54:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.autobison.com\/?p=1084"},"modified":"2019-12-14T17:01:01","modified_gmt":"2019-12-14T22:01:01","slug":"colorado-is-here-to-stay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.autobison.com\/2019\/12\/colorado-is-here-to-stay\/","title":{"rendered":"Colorado is here to stay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Chevy Colorado is here to stay; General Motors just announced that it will invest $1.5 billion to produce them at its Wentzville truck plant, keeping 4,000 jobs in the U.S. (based on GM\u2019s wording, that may include non-GM employees or people at other plants).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1085\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autobison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/colorado-692x400.jpg\" alt=\"Chevrolet Colorado pickup\" width=\"640\" height=\"370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autobison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/colorado-692x400.jpg 692w, https:\/\/www.autobison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/colorado-440x254.jpg 440w, https:\/\/www.autobison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/colorado.jpg 699w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><em>The next generation is unlikely to look like the curvaceous 2016 model shown above.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Colorado midsize pickup (and its GMC brother) were brought back against the unsolicited advice of pundits, to compete directly against import pickups; Dodge had already decided to leave the midsize pickup market after Dakota sales had plummeted, and neither Ford nor Chevrolet had been able to keep compact pickup sales going with Toyota and others dominating sales in that arena. However, the Colorado has sold very well, and another generation is not especially surprising.<\/p>\n<p>The Tacoma has not exactly been threatened by the Colorado and its GMC brother, the Canyon, but the Colorado is still a good seller. \u00a0In the first three quarters of 2019, Toyota sold 228,000 Tacomas, and GM sold 96,819 Colorados and 26,301 Canyons. Ford, which came in late with the Ranger, got 50,512 sales under their belt.
