Electric and new F-150 timeline announced
The Ford F-150 has been the best selling light-duty truck in America for decades now. Recent reports suggest that there are some major changes coming soon so let’s break it down.
The electric F-150: According to Jim Farley, the COO of Ford, the electric F-150 (and Transit) will launch in the middle of 2022. Competitors such as GM will have a jump on the electric F-150 but this jump will not be monumental, as the Hummer EV will not be available until later in 2021. The Cybertruck, according to Tesla, will also arrive before the electric F-150. It is unclear when Ram will release their electric truck but they are gearing up for the release of the TRX.
The new F-150: The new F-150 will debut via a live stream on June 25 at 8 p.m. EDT. Ordering will open up on July 15 and production will begin on October 12. We can expect the same cab but changes to the headlights and taillights. We can also expect a revamped interior along with new powertrains that will deliver better fuel economy. We will know more about the new F-150 in the coming weeks.
