Where is the all-new Ram Heavy Duty?
Back over a year ago, the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty was significantly refreshed with a lot taken from the all-new 2019 Ram 1500. However, the cab and box remain the same from 2010 because the Ram 1500 Classic is still being produced at Warren Truck assembly. The original plan was to move production to Warren for the all-new fifth-generation Ram HD. However, since Ram 1500 Classic models are so profitable, this was delayed. Instead, FCA did everything they could to revamp the Ram HD without moving production.
Many have been wondering when we will see the all-new Ram Heavy Duty. While we do not know for sure, we are speculating that we will see the fifth-gen debut in the first quarter of 2022 at the earliest. This is more of a pipedream because the Ram HD has had much success with many exceptional awards from outlets such as Motor Trend. FCA can continue to profit from Ram Classic production and still sell a product with a great interior with many features that truck buyers want.
The all-new Ram HD will likely have a similar cab design to the all-new 1500 though there is a chance that when this debuts, talk of a sixth generation 1500 will likely be in the air. FCA may hint at a future cab design for the next-generation Ram 1500 by putting it on the HD first. There also could be a hybrid Cummins in the works and/or a hybrid 6.4 Hemi. Talks of a 7 liter Hemi were rampant some time ago and it seems unlikely FCA will develop a huge engine when other manufacturers are utilizing hybrid technology.
