Auto manufacturers charged with a new task
The Coronavirus has halted not only life in America but other countries around the world are in a similar position. Auto manufacturers have been forced to shut down plants in order to prevent the spread of the virus. However, they could be faced with a new task.
The United States is in desperate need of medical equipment including masks and ventilators. Ford, GM, FCA, and Tesla are currently looking in to producing medical equipment. GM has partnered with Ventec Life Systems to produce respiratory care products and Ford has been in talks with both the U.S. and British governments to make medical equipment.
Elon Musk said in a tweet that Tesla is working on making ventilators, even though he thinks they will probably not be needed. FCA announced today that they will donate 1 million masks to health care workers in less than one month, converting one of their Asian plants to do such a tall task.
